Many of the girls we serve suffer from serious abuse and neglect issues and some are pregnant or parenting. All of the girls we serve are in need of safe, healthy relationships with adults to help them heal and grow.
WINGS (Women Involved in Nurturing Girls' Self-esteem) is our highly structured mentoring program that pairs a Florence Crittenton girl with a professional woman from the local community. These safe, healthy adult mentoring relationships give at-risk girls a new outlook on the value of education, career goals and their own sense of self-worth.
A mentor plays many roles - friend, listener, coach, teacher and caring adult. By providing a positive example, WINGS mentors help girls develop their dreams and a vision for the future, and to encourage them to realize their full potential.
Mentors are carefully recruited, screened and trained for full participation, and they are expected to share a minimum of three hours per month for one year. Fingerprinting and a background check are also required.
To learn more about the WINGS program or to become a mentor, please email or call today at 602-288-4544.
