How Can I Help?

home :: safety hope opportunity :: janelle

Abused at home and further traumatized by her parents’ hostile divorce, Janelle escaped to the streets at the age of 16. Many times she found herself living in a cardboard box and eating out of dumpsters. Caught up in a life of drugs and stealing, Janelle lost all hope of a bright future and contemplated suicide.

Then came a blessing in disguise: Janelle got arrested and was court-referred to Florence Crittenton. She didn’t know it at the time, but her fatal road to self-destruction changed direction that day. With hard work and tenacity, and the support and care of Florence Crittenton therapists and staff, Janelle broke through the anger, mistrust and pain from years of abuse. She faced her drug addictions and learned how to make responsible choices for her future.

Today, Janelle is a confident, healthy young woman who has not only finished high school, but plans to continue her education so she can become a nurse.
